Happy Tuesday fam,
I promised our college fashion series would be kicking off on Tuesday and yippee I delivered, all thanks to our amazing college fashionista Miracle Harold. College fashion is about putting the spotlight on college students who have a passion for fashion and always slay with their style irrespective of their responsibilities as students.
Sit back, relax and be inspired.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR SELF. My name is Miracle Harold, am a 17 year old writer, artist and fashionista.
WHAT COLLEGE DO YOU ATTEND, AND WHAT ARE YOU STUDYING? I am a 200level student of the department of English and literary student in the University of Port Harcourt.
WHAT DOES FASHION MEANS TO YOU? To me fashion means the ability to present clothes of different colors, styles, textures etc and rock it in an innovative and fresh way that would inspire others.
WHY DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A FASHIONISTA? I am a fashionista because I always dress to inspire and I’m not a trend chaser, I would never join the band wagon and wear a style that is trending,i lead with my style.
WHAT MAKES YOUR STYLE UNIQUE? I’d say what makes my style unique is the manner in which my clothes present me. My ability to carry myself and maintain an image that inspires and motivates others, making them want to look good and represent themselves well through their style.
HOW HAS YOUR LOVE FOR FASHION AFFECTED YOUR LIFE AS A STUDENT? It has affected me positively. The blending and creation of new styles has made me creative and artistic. This gives me so much joy and confidence and I’ve been positively exposed. it gives me so much pride showcasing what i create.
AS A STUDENT, HOW DO YOU MANAGE YOUR EXPENDITURE AND THE NEED TO KEEP IN STYLE? Balancing my spending habits and keeping in style isn’t really a big deal. I divide my monthly allowance into categories and I must include my shopping expenses besides i get a lot of money from my parents, aunts, uncles hahahahahah.
HAS YOUR NEED TO REMAIN IN STYLE PREVENTED YOU FROM FOCUSING ON YOUR STUDIES? Never . During the weekends, I plan ahead of the next week, what I’d wear in order not to miss out classes. If I ever fail or don’t do well in classes, it’s never as a result of my love for fashion or been stylish.I have learnt how to adequately balance both.
WHAT IS THAT TIMELESS PIECE, THAT NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE FOR YOU? A high waist trouser and a crop top, I absolutely love those.
WHAT IS YOUR GO TO OUTFIT? A Polo Shirt, a Jean and a face cap.
FIVE FASHION MUST YOU CAN’T GO OUT WITHOUT AND YOU FEEL EVERYONE MUST HAVE? First is a smile, you could have a bad dressing but with that smile on your face, trust me you’re sure gonna slay and be admired. Your glasses if you’re without make-up.
If not having a great hairdo, a hat or cap to fit in order to give a full face. A wrist watch and jewelries to match. A hand bag and foot wears to match.
WHAT IS THE GREATEST CHALLENGE YOU FACE AS A COLLEGE FASHIONISTA? The biggest challenge I’ve faced as a college fashionista is that my pocket doesn’t fit my taste most times. The money i have sometimes might not be enough to get what i want but I have learnt to be content and make do with what i have.
WHAT IS THE CRAZIEST AND COOLEST COLLEGE FASHION TREND YOU HAVE SEEN IN YOUR SCHOOL? The craziest college trend I’ve seen so far is the ripped Jean style where this Jean is torn a little bit about the knee almost up to the toe, I actually see that as indecent . The coolest I’ve seen is the palazzo and small tops.
WHICH CELEBRITY STYLE DO YOU COVET MOST? Toke Makinwa. She’s just so good.
WHAT IS THE MOST YOU HAVE SPENT ON AN ITEM AND WHAT WAS IT ?
20,000 NGN, I spent it on a stiletto and it got broken in two weeks which was super annoying.
DO YOU THINK A STUDENT CAN KEEP IN STYLE WITH OUT GOING BANKRUPT? Yea a student can keep in style without going bankrupt. Simply buy what your money can afford, look for what would go well with this and that, wash it well, iron it and own it.
WHAT TIPS DO YOU HAVE FOR STUDENTS WHO WANTS TO UPDATE THEIR WARDROBES WITHOUT BUYING ALL NEW CLOTHES ? Well I’d say learn color blending because definitely one or two of your old clothes will match in colors. Also read online, ask people and make good research.
